Step 1: Install the Desktop App

1

Download

Download the installer for your operating system from the download page (Windows and Mac supported).
2

Install

Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
3

Launch Wissly and create an account or log in.

Step 2: Connect a Folder

1

Click Open Folder

Click File > Open Folder from the top menu.
2

Select Folder

Choose the folder containing the documents you want to ask questions about. Selecting a parent folder will include all documents in its subfolders.
3

Start Syncing

Click the Open button and Wissly will automatically read each document and prepare it for search and answering (indexing).
Start with a folder containing fewer documents. You can add more folders once indexing is complete.

Step 3: Ask Your First Question

Once indexing is complete (a few seconds to up to an hour depending on document size), you can start asking questions.
1

Enter Your Question

Type your question in natural language in the input field at the bottom.
  • Example: “Summarize this quarter’s sales report”
  • Example: “Find meeting notes related to Project A”
2

View the Answer

Press Enter and Wissly will find relevant documents and generate an answer.
3

Check Sources

Source documents are displayed with each answer. Click to see the relevant section highlighted in the document.
Not sure what to ask? Use the Quick Action buttons below the chat input. Flows for drafting, reviewing, and cross-checking documents are ready to go — a few selections and Wissly sends a well-formed request for you.
